Senior Accountant

Discount Stones is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. Reporting to the corporate controller, you will be responsible for major accounting operations. You will own and drive various initiatives in both accounting and finance.

Position Details:

  • Perform daily finance operations, full-cycle accounting and month-end closing process.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, analysis, and long term planning.
  • Evaluate cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business executives.
  • Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas as a measure of risk management.
  • Facilitate financial year end activities.
  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures and controls.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of all necessary monthly reconciliations, account analyses, and schedules.
  • Ensure tax provision records are complete and accurate.

Candidate Requirements:

  • CPA (CGA, CMA, CA) designation combined with a minimum of 3 years of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting experience (IFRS), preferably in the construction or e-commerce industry.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Superior problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient with Accpac, TaxPrep, Lotus Notes, and MS Office Suite (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Strong work ethic and standards with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.

Account Manager

Discount Stones is looking for an Account Manager to join our growing team. The Account Manager must achieve a territory sales plan by maintaining existing business, developing incremental business in existing accounts, and conducting cold calls to develop new corporate accounts.

Position Details:

  • Direct sales to new and existing accounts in your own territory.
  • Develop strategies, with assistance from Management, to drive the business in your own territory.
  • Maintain and increase current customer database in your own territory.
  • Call on various management levels within assigned accounts which influence purchasing decisions.
  • Develop presentations and customer proposals for supply contracts and preferred vendor agreements with assistance from Management.
  • Participate in sales training programs as presented by the company to develop appropriate selling skills consistent with the company philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate shipping schedules and delivery of products.
  • Travel worldwide to participate/host in conferences, customer visits, seminars and training programs as required.

Candidate Requirements:

  • 2-5 years, as an account manager, buyer, merchandise manager and or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor degree in Business, Marketing and or Commerce; and or Certificate of equivalency.
  • Familiarity with the merchandising planning cycle, vendor negotiation and agreements, setting margin and profitability goals; monitoring sales patterns and inventory flow.
  • Understanding of P&L with e-commerce or retail background preferred.
  • Excellent problem solver with ability to make decisions critically and analytically.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (i.e. Excel and Word).
  • Ability to analyze data, report trends, and execute decisions in the best interest of the company.
  • Persuasive communicator with strong negotiation skills.
  • An overall high achiever, with a positive attitude to exceed and meet goals on a daily basis.
  • Goal oriented, self-starter with a strong background in business and sales management.
  • Innovative thinker and problem solver, who can handle the pressures of a fast-paced work environment.
